'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Ethan Galbraith renews clash with City.

Ethan Galbraith breaks into a smile as he recalls the nail-biting closing stages of his team's stunning fightback triumph against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup. The encounter wrapped up with Galbraith picking up a fan's glasses amid the post-goal scrum.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith cracked the upright with a long-range effort from distance, and Cameron Burgess immediately converted the loose ball before sprinting toward the crowd to celebrate, with supporters swarming the players.

Stunning Reversal

This sealed an incredible comeback given the Welsh side had been behind 2-0 midway through the latter period. Amid the euphoria, there was some minor mishaps. He shared, "There was a supporter shouting out and Josh Key and I were thinking: 'What's he on about here?' Then we saw the glasses. It was a light-hearted moment putting them on. We are on the pitch as footballers but we're individuals, too, so to have a laugh with the fans is always good."

Premier League Giants

That win booked a upcoming match at home against Pep Guardiola's side on Wednesday, a club Galbraith pushed hard at the comparable phase of the FA Cup with Leyton Orient in February. He had a prime vantage point when Orient took the lead in stunning style, with a teammate's volley from about 45 yards going in via the woodwork and the opposition keeper. It seems unfair that it was recorded as an own goal.

"You would have hoped they would've given it to him for taking the effort on from that range," commented Galbraith, who began the game centrally before switching to right wing-back after the team changed tactics. That meant competing with Jack Grealish, with whom he swapped shirts, and the attacker was among the opposition who complimented the way Orient approached the match.

Opponent's Class

"Fitness-wise they are outstanding but even the fundamentals and basic skills, they can just execute repeatedly," he explains. "It seems as if they never miss a pass and they are adept at dictate and take the sting out of a game. You can believe you're doing well and then without warning they will just deliver a through ball past your midfield without you even spotting it. You have to be focused at all times of the game. It requires a tough attitude and concentration just to stay in the game."

Swansea Move

Swansea pushed to sign Galbraith in January and secured his signature to secure him in the summer in a £1.5m deal. He established himself as a fans' favourite across multiple campaigns at his former club and has rapidly achieved similar status in Wales. At the London club he joined forces once more with Richie Wellens, who earlier gave Galbraith his initial sustained opportunity in first-team action on loan at a League One side from United. Then came a loan at fourth-tier Salford City, before he permanently left Manchester United.

Development Path

"I was likely a slightly green going into professional soccer. I think a lot of players would say development squad matches is entirely separate. Sometimes it feels like play is circulated without real physicality. There are limited hard challenges. Once you start playing professional matches you have to adapt rapidly."

Country Call-ups

His progress reflects that growth for club and country, performing well for Northern Ireland, who could still reach the global tournament next summer via the qualifying rounds and for whom he has been selected in the last several matches, including home and away fixtures against a football powerhouse. His former international manager, Galbraith's former international manager, paid him the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "midfield general" given how he controls possession and his ability to spot a game-changing assist.

Starting Out

It has been an incredible journey for the youngster from the local area in Glengormley, just outside Northern Ireland's main city, who was raised observing his dad, his father, also a central player, play for a local club.

Manchester United Experience

The player's sole appearance for United came in Central Asia in 2019, a Europa League trip to Astana, where they played on an plastic turf and the stadium roof was closed owing to the weather of -15C. "That proved to be a extended travel and it was chilly," he says, chuckling. "The preceding week, myself and quite a few of the young lads trained together, so that assisted our preparation. Just to accompany the senior squad and make an appearance at the end was amazing."

Moving On

What was the challenge was it to move on from Old Trafford, the club he joined from Linfield aged a teenager? "It was relatively straightforward, because I got to the stage where I understood I wouldn't break through at the top level. I'm hugely grateful for the years at the club but it became apparent where I felt I had to take a different path, join a smaller club and play professional soccer. Now I'm slowly climbing the ladder."

New Environment

It is the middle of the day at Swansea's Fairwood training base but Galbraith has a commitment at the early evening: a driving theory test, another step towards getting on the road. Until recently to the local area, the mid-twenties player was a constant rider in Swansea's nicknamed fun bus, a small coach driven by team personnel, the drivers, which shuttles players to and from practice and games.

"I travel with the Portuguese player, Ronald, an Ivorian player – Melker Widell used to be in it but has begun using his own car. It's enjoyable to interact with the teammates but I'm planning to be the subsequent individual to stop using the bus and on the road. The Portuguese player enjoys practical jokes; he's frequently playing tricks."

Public Engagement

When he represented Orient, Galbraith would blend in with supporters on London's Central line after starting his journey at the area he lived in. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
